Cold & Wood Pressed Castor Oil 100ml

Cold and wood-pressed castor oil for the kitchen and for hair and skin routines.

Our Castor Oil is extracted using traditional wooden pressing, with no chemicals, additives or preservatives, and it's edible. It's noticeably thick and glossy with a mild, slightly nutty taste. In Indian homes it has long had a place in the pantry as well as in weekly hair oiling.

How to use it

In the kitchen (small amounts only)

• Storing dals and grains: Traditionally, a few drops are rubbed into toor dal or other stored grains to coat them before storage. Rinse well before cooking.
• Cooking: Use only a few drops at a time. It isn't a general cooking or frying oil.

For hair and skin

• Hair oiling: Castor oil is very thick, so mix 1 part castor oil with 2–3 parts coconut or almond oil. Massage into the scalp and lengths, leave for 1–2 hours or overnight, then shampoo well (you may need to shampoo twice).
• Brows and lashes: Apply a tiny amount along brows with a clean spoolie. Keep well away from the eyes.
• Dry skin: Mix a few drops with your usual oil or moisturiser for elbows, heels and cuticles.

100% castor oil (Ricinus communis).

Allergen and safety guidance

Use in food only in small amounts. Castor oil has a strong laxative effect if more than a small amount is swallowed. Do not take it by the spoonful, and do not give it to children. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding without advice from your doctor.

For skin and hair, patch test on a small area 24 hours before first use and stop if irritation occurs. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep out of reach of children.

Storage

Keep tightly closed in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight.
